ARAI Masayuki
インターネットで見つけた写真をプリントし、キャンバスに貼るところから絵は始まる。
写真に写らなかった外側を想像して描き広げ、最後に写真を剥がすと、描かれた想像の部分だけが残る。
画面内の矩形はその名残である。
注射器から押し出される絵具は厚みを持って積み重なり、像を結ぶ。
遠くからは図像、近くからは絵具が見え、イメージと物質の境界が溶ける。
貼られた写真は絵が始まるトリガーであり、介入できない他者でもある。
実在と錯覚の間で、絵は如何に生まれ、存りうるのかを模索する。
